ANRITSU CORPORATION (hereinafter "ANRITSU"), a developer, manufacturer, and seller of electronic measuring instruments and quality assurance systems for food and pharmaceuticals, Urban Energy Corporation (hereinafter "Urban Energy"), a new electricity retailer wholly owned by JFE Engineering Corporation, J&T Recycling Corporation, which handles recycling businesses within the JFE Engineering Group, and its subsidiary J Bio Food Recycle Corporation (hereinafter "J Bio Food Recycle") ー these four companies will launch initiatives toward the development of a circular model linking food and energy, starting from June 2026.

Food waste generated in the cafeteria at ANRITSU's head office will be transported to J Bio Food Recycle, where it will be converted into electricity through biogas power generation via methane fermentation. Urban Energy will purchase this electricity and supply it to Anritsu Techno Office (located in Tamura-cho, Atsugi City), ANRITSU's domestic business base, thereby completing a resource circulation loop. Furthermore, by introducing the "Zero Emission Plan®"*1, an electricity plan utilizing non-fossil fuel certificates designated as renewable energy for the total amount of electricity consumed, CO2 net emissions of zero will be achieved.

ANRITSU has set a target of reducing CO2 emissions by 42% by fiscal year 2030 (compared to fiscal year 2021). The "Electricity Creation Returning®"*2 initiative proposed by Urban Energy on this occasion has been positioned as an essential initiative for achieving these targets, and is highly regarded as contributing to improved food recycling rates and the achievement of the SDGs.

ANRITSU and the JFE Engineering Group will continue to expand and promote environmentally conscious services, contributing to the realization of a sustainable society.

A plan that supplies effectively 100% renewable energy by combining the customer's entire electricity usage with non-fossil fuel certificates designated for renewable energy, achieving zero adjusted CO2 emission coefficient.
*2 "Electricity Creation Returning®"
A unique service offered by Urban Energy since 2017 that provides electricity rate discounts based on the amount of waste when power generated from waste is purchased and supplied to the facility where the waste originated.
